Online Subscription for SLPA Quarterly Newsletters

  1. Consent to receive newsletter via email – by entering your name and email address in the subscribe box and pushing the “Subscribe” button, you consent to receiving future newsletters and related material via email.   By consenting to receive the SLPA newsletter and associated materials electronically, you agree to forego their receipt by US mail which is the official communications channel of SLPA.
  2. What data we process – we process a name and an email address.  No other information is stored.
  3. How we process and protect the data – we use a WordPress plugin, Mail Poet, which (1) creates the subscribe box on the website that accepts the name and email address, (2) stores the name and email address in a subscriber list that is stored in the WordPress SQL Server Database, housed on the Web Host provider and is behind a firewall and password protected, (3) creates the email that contains the newsletter and an unsubscribe link, and (4) sends the email to all subscribers through the Mail Poet SMTP email server for added security and reliability.  The Mail Poet SMTP email server is designed for large volumes of email traffic and signs each email with SPF and DKIM, which encrypt the email to protect email senders and recipients from spam, spoofing, and phishing.
  4. The purpose of the processing – for sending a SLPA quarterly newsletter to any and all SLPA owners that choose to receive the newsletter online.  SLPA may include other information related to SLPA business, i.e. annual election ballots.
  5. All third-party involvement – The Mail Poet SMTP email server is the only third party involvement and is used to ensure secure and successful delivery of the newsletter to the recipients inbox, vice junk/spam folder.  The Mail Poet SMTP email server is designed for large volumes of email traffic and signs each email with SPF and DKIM, which encrypt the email to protect email senders and recipients from spam, spoofing, and phishing.
  6. The user’s ability to unsubscribe – each email containing a newsletter includes an Unsubscribe link at the bottom to discontinue the online subscription.  There is a link to edit your profile, changing your email address or name, if needed.
  7. How we handle requests related to your rights – for any concerns, SLPA owners can email the online subscription author at SLPATreasurer@gmail.com
